WHAT A SUCCESS!!

'Ek Shaam, Lata Ke Naam - 2006' Sydney's first ever devotional night of song and music to honour, the nightingale of India; LATA MANGESHKAR, was a raging success A full house packed the Red Gum Function Centre in Wentworthville to witness JAZBA - 'Emotions' (Sydney's No.1 Hindi Band) Put on a show of the highest standard. The show was sold out almost a day before the performance, and the participating audience was given a night to remember.

Wonderful Stage design, bright & even lighting, professional projection & perfect sound complimented the wonderful music being rendered on stage. The voices of Rucha Lange and Shivangi Vyas (Jazba's lead female vocalists) did fitting justice to the songs of the great Lata Ji. Supporting the females were Sydney's Best Male vocalists - Avijit Sarkar, Riaz Shah and Dr Sadiq Rehmani. Their duets were sung with great precision and also ensured that songs from as early as 1948 to the latest song of 2006 recorded by Lata Mangeshkar were performed.

The night started fittingly with a prayer type song, - Ai Malik Tere Bande Hum, and from then on the tempo was well maintained with excellent song selection and sensible timing. These traits have become common to all JAZBA shows who's strength it seems is to know what people want to listen to. Just before the interval, Rucha Lange delivered two all time classics - Inhi Logoh Ne & Yeh Zindagi Uhsi Ki hai, leaving the crowd in awe of her amazing voice and ability to deliver Lata numbers. In the second half Shivangi Vyas had everyone's feet tapping with - Gaata Rahe Mera Dil and Mere khawabo Meh Joh Ayeh from DDLJ. With concise MC work by Omila Rahat and minimal change over time between songs.

At the half way point Avijit Sarkar the Music Director of Jazba, addressed the crowd to introduce the members of Jazba. He also stated his solemn belief, that music the international language of the world, is the most powerful means of bringing people together. Jazba as a band is very culturally alert & also politically concerned of the world around them. The band has members from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Afghanistan. The youngest member is 20 and the oldest is almost 50. Their message is very clear. If they can be together then so can everyone else. Before the last song Abdul Sajwani addressed the crowd with a vote of thanks, but then asked them to listen to the message Jazba wanted to convey in their last song. The song expressed the concerns of a Mother when she doesn't know where her child is. He said it was very easy to forget the concerns of our parents especially if they're far away from us, and this song would not only end the night but also exemplified that humanity and family unity was part of Jazba's own persona. The near perfect delivery of this song, left a chill in everyone's spine and I'm sure a greater phone bill for most audience members. The song was 'Luka Chuppi' from Rang De Basanti. Lata's latest film song.

The Night was Produced by 'SNSR', a father son production company which is firmly stamping their name as Sydney's leading sound, lighting, projection and event management specialists. Their joint ventures with JAZBA this year have seen them and JAZBA pull off 3 marvellous concerts this year. 'Nasha-e-Sangeet' in February, 'Ghazal Ki Shaam' in July and now 'Ek Shaam Lata Ke Naam' in September. So wether it be the latest songs of todays' films, folk songs from great ghazal singers or older filmy songs, JAZBA seems to have the arsenal to perform all genres!

SNSR and JAZBA is also greatful to Indus Age, Rabitah International, Radio Jharoka & AIL and their its readers and listeners for their wonderful support and look forward to strengthening these relationships with more events to come next year.

The sponsors were also oustanding and their banners will remain on display on this site so as to honour the commitment and support shown until next years sponsors are finalised.
