Jazba was formed over 2 years ago as a band, which aimed to become Sydney's most popular hindi band within its first 2 years.  That they have done very succesfully.

Now 'Ek Shaam Lata Ke Naam - A devotion to Lata Mangeshkar' is a night that has been in the making for about a year. For this Jazba will be in full force with a 4 piece rhythm section and a bass guitarist to solidify the musical fortress of Jazba. To learn more about each member of Jazba's full setup please read below.

The group was brought together by Abdul Sajwani who with his production company - "Stereo Nation Sound Reinforcement (SNSR)", was developing a great reputation within Sydney.  While logistics and management duties might fall upon Abdul it is the bands musicians that put the performance on stage.

Dr Sadiq Rehmani came to Australia with over 14 years experience as a professional musician in Pakistan.  Before Jazba he had been performing as a freelance artist around Sydney for well over a year before joining forces with his good friends Abdul Sajwani and Salim Juddani.  Sadiq had managed to secure the praise of many great artists around Sydney including Riaz Shah, Bupinder Mintu, Dr Rajesh Dinaker and Sam just to mention a few.  The more he performed the more he imposed himself upon Sydney and its music lovers.  His core strength comes not only from his amazing ability as a gifted vocalist & rhythm guitarist, but actually from his extensive vocabulary of Indian & Pakistani Songs.  Wether its old filmy, classical, ghazals or the latest bollywood jives, this man has the ability to pick it up and deliver on a consistent basis.

Rucha Lange Is one of Jazba's two female vocal sensations. She has had 8 years of classical vocal training. She has appeared on Indian Idol & Sa Re Ga Ma. Her only fear before coming to Australia to study was what would happen to her musical career and all the hard work she had put in preparing herself for nights like this.

In here short time here she is widely regarded as a very accurate singer of Lata Songs. While she feels this is far from the truth, we feel she's one of the best singers of Lata Mangeshkar we have heard. Trust me we've heard many.

Both her and Shivangi are at home in Jazba who love to honour the musical and vocal greats. It forms the basis for their own music which is heavily influenced by Lata. It was really inevitable that with Rucha and Shivangi in the group that the idea of Lata Night would come up sooner rather than later. She is Rucha's personal Idol, and look forward to a super effort from rucha to devote her voice to her songs.

Shivangi Vyaas Was the first of Jazba's two female vocal sensations, Jazba had gone almost one and half years without any lead female vocalists until they heard Shivangi. Like Rucha she has been on Indian Idol and has caused a storm while performing for Jazba in Sydney. Her versatality is what stamps her as a singer. She can sing many styles, from many singers from many era's.

She has had 7 years of classical vocal training. In Ahemdabad her home town she was the 'Lakiya bros' lead female singer before coming to Australia.

These two vocal sensations of Jazba are the future thats here already today. On Lata night Shivi will make sparks fly and emotions run wild.

Akber Alibhai is another overseas professional musician who's work and career opportunities brought him to the shores of Australia.  He is Jazba's lead keyboardist and with Sadiq controls all melodic aspects of their sounds.  One of Akber's key strengths is his extensive vocabulary of music from India and Pakistan and his ability to pick up melodic lines on the fly.  The later attribute is almost a pre-requisite to playing indian music.  He also is a support vocalist and Jazba has more than enough faith in his abilities to have him open most of their concerts.  Vocally he has a strong voice and together with his nimble fingers on the keys he plays a pivotal role within the band. Akber has also performed with many of Sydney's renowed artists as a freelancer.

Salim Juddani started learning percussion instruments as soon as he became a teenager. This year marks a decade of amazing development for a man who is now one of Sydney's premier percussionist for indian music.  In fact he had hit the freelance scene within his first 2 years as a musician and in his mid teens was already performing along side artists such as Aziz Tejani, Sukhi, Sam and other well known percussive minds.  His primary instrument now is the electronic drum module known as an 'octopad' however his starting point was on hand percussions and more specifically 3pc congita's and bongo's.  Salim is the percussive backbone of Jazba and his own career in technology and IT translates into his ability to now utilise the latest electronic percussions to make one musician sound like an ensemble.  On lata Night Salim will span right across his rhythmic expertise to cover both the electronic drums and hand percussions.

Ketan Parmar the latest addition to the Jazba outfit is man for whom music and in particular rhythm dwells in the  blood.  His dad a recording artist in Mumbai has bestowed upon a Sydney a rare percussive mind.  I say rare because, so vast is the number of instruments that Ketan plays that he can fit into any song in any genre.  Ketan had performed extensively for the Gujrati community, in particular for Navratri and Garba functions.  However in the last year he was recognised by Salim as unique artist that would join Jazba.  With his ability to portray traditional indian percussions via electronic percussions he has nulled the need for a dedicated hand percussionist within Jazba. Together with Salim he holds down the Rhythmic castle on which Jazba stands.

Murtaza Damun - We are proud to bring to the mix, Murtaza Damun. A young but VERY high achiever. His youthful talent, & yet mature pose, ensures that he performs with a professional attitude each and everytime. There is no doubting his abilities, being the son of one of Sydney's best tablist - Rahim Damun, Murtaza looks set to take his dad's mantle. Already he is the choice of many overseas artists such as Gulam Abbass, while they tour Australia. His passion lies in classical improvisations or 'jugalbandis' and he takes every challenge as a chance to become that much better. Need I say more?

Jazba is proud to welcome its newest member who seems a natural inclusion when viewed in light of his wonderful personality. Committed to the cause and passionate from within, he is friendly and always respectful, which sometimes disguises the wealth of talent and skill he possesses.

He portrays the ethos of Jazba and we hope to keep him for the long haul!

Bobby Kumar- Arguably one of Sydney's best bass guitarist on the hindi scene! He was there in Nasha-e-sangeet and he's here now that Jazba is taking on their biggest challenge yet. Bobby spent his early career in Australia performing with western bands including a prolonged stint with a carribean group which saw him tour all over Australia, Asia and other far away places. He now prefers to perform only in high quality events and its no secret that when the name 'Jazba' is mentioned that, 'quality' is a foregone conclusion.

Abdul Sajwani has become of one of Sydney's premier sound and lighting technicians especially in the subcontinental market.  Jazba was his brainchild and while now he looks after all technical and managerial aspects of 'Jazba' his origins in music started with his good friend Salim Juddani in percussions.  Having spent 5 years as a drummer, 2 years learning keyboard, trying his hand at tabla, guitar and even vocals, Abdul finally found his special talent in production and technical arrangement. It must be said though his strong groundings in music is what underlines his strength as a technician.  Modern music is as attached to technology and in particular sound re-inforcement as eyes, nose and ears are to your face.  With his father - Mahedi Sajwani, they have operated a successful production company for the last 4 years and together they have done some of the grandest venue's within Sydney including - Sydney Aquatic Centre, Sydney Tennis Centre, Bankstown Town Hall, Orion Centre, Bowman hall, Macquarie Theatre and the list goes on and on.  Abdul's production company (Stereo Nation Sound Reinforcement) now does work for 6 major communities in Sydney and also holds strong affiliations with most of Sydney's subcontinental bands and Sydney's premier Bollywood dance studio's Mango Dance http:\\www.mangodance.com.au
